Last Month, Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy (aka XXXTentacion) filed a lawsuit for fraud and defamation against a woman who claimed he beat her. Shortly after a video of the event surfaced online, the woman posted a statement on Instagram that reads: “For those who are questioning why I didn’t come forth earlier was because I was terrified for my life… Imagine someone doing that to you unprovoked? At 16? Let alone the people he associates himself w/? Truth of the matter is I would still be holding onto this secret if it wasn’t leaked.” This appears to be her initial story, but this instagram post was later deleted.
Today TMZ reports that XXXTentacion has dropped the lawsuit. The inferred reason that the suit was dropped is due to the woman changing her story and submitting it to the rappers legal team.
The new (abridged) version reads: “The video was taken when Jahseh and I were both kids and we were just joking around… I was not injured as a result of what happened nor did it negatively affect my personal life… I will not be pursuing any claims against him and I hope that people see the video in the playful context in which it was recorded and nothing more.” The full statement can be found here.
XXXTentacion is currently living under house arrest and awaiting trial after being charged in October 2016 with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness-tampering. He also faces an additional 15 charges of harassing and tampering with a witness or victim in a separate case.
